The IOCB Tech Foundation has launched the new Voucher Program to Bridge Funding Gaps in Clinical Research. As part of the program, it will provide fast and flexible financial contributions of up to CZK 200,000 to cover essential clinical research expenses and bridge potential funding gaps within larger grants. In the pilot phase, the foundation plans to allocate CZK 1 million.

The Czech grant system is designed to support long-term projects, requiring detailed planning for every step at the time of application. However, a fundamental characteristic of groundbreaking “blue sky” research is its unpredictability – it is not always possible to anticipate every essential purchase, trip, or experiment in advance. As a result, research teams often face bureaucratic obstacles that prevent them from taking key steps toward achieving significant results.

This issue is particularly pressing in clinical research conducted in hospitals or similar institutions, where inflexible funding timelines and lengthy administrative procedures can complicate the practical implementation of ambitious research in clinical settings. Moreover, funding is lacking for small-scale pilot projects that are often essential prerequisites for applying to large, long-term funding schemes.

Up to CZK 200,000 for essential clinical research expenses

To address this, we have launched a new program aimed at ensuring an uninterrupted flow of research that may lead to significant innovations and ultimately contribute to improving human well-being. The program offers financial contributions of up to CZK 200,000 to cover essential clinical research expenses and bridge potential gaps within larger grants. In its pilot phase, the total amount available is CZK 1 million.

The program is open to individual researchers and research teams, universities, research institutions, and hospitals based or operating in the Czech Republic. Applications are reviewed on a monthly basis until the full budget is allocated.
